ABOUT ONE COMMUNITY CHURCH

ONE Community Church is a dynamic and diverse family of believers located in Sierra Vista, AZ. Our beliefs are based on the Bible and centered on Jesus Christ. Our goal is straightforward: to lead people to honor and glorify Jesus Christ. That means we’re not about a building or some complicated religious system, but about helping people from all backgrounds discover the joy that comes from knowing and serving Jesus Christ.

We invite you to visit us this weekend at one of our worship services. We know that going to a new church can sometimes be intimidating, so we try to do things in a way that you’ll feel welcome and not like an outsider. When you come, you can participate or just sit back and observe. You’ll discover a warm atmosphere, practical teaching from God's Word, and lots of friendly people pursuing God together. And with childcare and classes for all ages, your family will love it too!

God made a promise in the Bible that if we seek after Him, we’ll find Him. You are a valued part of God’s creation, and His deep desire is to be in a relationship with you. So come and join us as we pursue God together!

FAITH

Biblically speaking, we all have been given a measure of faith. Whether that faith has been misunderstood, misplaced, or malnourished, we believe that through God's Word, prayer, and the community of believers, our faith can be maximized. Here at ONE Community Church, we believe that your measure of faith is more than enough for your life's journey.

FAMILY

To quote Pastor Dhati Lewis, "A church is not like family. A church is family!" At ONE Community Church, we value the family, and we believe the church should be a place for people of all ages. Every Sunday, we offer children's ministries alongside our regular services, providing an age-appropriate environment where children and adults can encounter Christ.

LEADERSHIP

ONE Community Church is guided by a leadership team that provides overall direction and watches over the spiritual needs of the church. Our spiritual leader, Pastor Ken Richardson, provides sound, practical, biblical teaching at each worship service. He has received theological and pastoral training alongside his multifaceted experiences and is equipped to share God's love with our local church and community. ONE Community Church is blessed to have a team of leaders who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will.

OUR HISTORY

SIERRA VISTA COMMUNITY UCC

Late in 1957, a group of about 50 faithful believers in Sierra Vista, Arizona, gathered with a shared dream: to create a vibrant place to worship God and witness to their faith. Coming from a variety of Protestant backgrounds, they were united not by denomination but by a desire for community and spiritual purpose. Their first worship service took place on December 22, 1957, at the local Masonic Temple, under the leadership of Rev. Clell Hickman. As the congregation grew, so did the vision. By 1959, with 81 committed members, the church began fundraising for a permanent home. In January 1962, they broke ground on the east side of town, and by January 27, 1963, they joyfully dedicated their new building—what we now call the Fellowship Hall.

The next two decades were marked by spiritual growth, community outreach, and the deepening of congregational life. Music, worship, and fellowship became central elements of the church’s identity. By 1974, the church had grown to 225 active members. In the late 1970s, God brought a season of stability and vision through the faithful ministry of Ross and Shirley McGuire. Their nearly 30 years of service helped shape the character and heartbeat of the church. During this period, the current sanctuary was constructed and dedicated in 1980, symbolizing a new chapter in the church’s growing presence in the city.

As times changed, so did the community and the spiritual needs of the region. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the church remained a welcoming space for individuals and families of all backgrounds. With a posture of hospitality, Sierra Vista Community UCC continued to serve as a spiritual home for the curious, the cautious, the questioning, and the committed. Through seasonal ministries, intergenerational worship, and local outreach, the church lived out its mission to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world.

In recent years, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Ken and a committed leadership team, the church entered a period of transformation and renewal. Prayerful conversations and congregational discernment led to a renewed identity and name—ONE Community Church—signifying unity in Christ, radical inclusion, and a shared mission for the future. This transition reflects not just a rebranding, but a spiritual reawakening: a desire to be a diverse, Spirit-led community bound by love, justice, and service.

Now known as ONE Community Church, we are continuing the legacy of those original 50 pioneers. We are a people who still believe in coming together—across traditions, cultures, and stories—to worship, grow, and serve. We embrace both tradition and innovation as we seek to follow Jesus faithfully in a changing world. Whether you are exploring faith for the first time or returning to it with new questions, we welcome you with open hearts.

We honor our past, give thanks for our present, and move forward in faith. As we live into our calling, we remain rooted in Christ’s love and open to the movement of the Holy Spirit. We invite you to join us on this sacred journey as ONE people, ONE Spirit, ONE mission—ONE Community Church.
