The book of Revelation, written by the Apostle John while exiled on the island of Patmos, opens with a powerful vision of the glorified Christ (Revelation 1). Jesus appears among seven golden lampstands, symbolizing seven churches in Asia Minor. He instructs John to write messages—personal letters—to each of these churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. These letters, found in chapters 2 and 3, contain commendations, corrections, and warnings, calling the churches to repentance, perseverance, and faithfulness. Together, they serve as timeless messages for the global Church, urging believers to remain steadfast in the face of trials and spiritual compromise.
